Tip #5 Use Dry Wood

Burning damp or wet wood will “steal” the heat………

Don’t burn wet wood. Burning damp or wet wood will “steal” the heat from the fire and the moist incomplete combustion will coat the chimney and cap screen. This may require a costly cleaning.
Wood storage should be kept dry but also allowed to circulate in order to dry fully.
